Course 10 : Advice from our Psychotherapist

The modules in this course will cover real questions dentists are asked - and tips on answering challenging queries.

We will also help dentists understand chronic pain, the impact and trauma of extractions, right through to encouraging patient compliance.

Modules will cover general nutrition advice and support for patients who undergo extractions or are medically compromised - and the general suggestions you can offer if you come across patients who inquire about healing or will use antibiotics in the course of their treatment.

Difficult Conversations...Chronic Pain

Dentists will face challenging questions and uncomfortable conversations.

Whether you are a new dentist or offering DFO to patients who may have already undergone costly orthodontic treatment in the past, extractions or clear aligners, you may face more difficult questions.

These course modules will explore difficult conversations, chronic pain and will even provide you with information on identifying when to make a suggestion to consider nutrition. Some of these conversations may be out of your comfort zone - but they can become easier with practice.

Difficult Conversations

Why has my treatment taken longer than you advised? Why are you suggesting DFO when I had orthodontics twenty years ago? Why do you charge more than other dentists? You have all encountered these difficult questions, but have you felt comfortable with the way they were answered?

Dental Nutrition

You will all come across patients who appear to have unhealthy habits or poor intra-oral health. What suggestions do you make to assist your patients with healing after extractions or wisdom tooth removal? When they are taking antibiotics you prescribe? Increase your general knowledge with modules that will help you better understand healing and dental nutrition.

Psychological Impact of
Chronic Pain

Patients suffering from chronic pain or the trauma of extractions may need some extra support. Understanding trauma and the experience of chronic pain will also help you identify with patients who have suffered - but will also guide you towards considering your treatment options carefully and ethically.
